IMF President Visits Nyamila Community Centre
As a requirement by our
donors, KCA Foundation, and the IMF board, IMF President, Juma Achoki travelled
to Kenya on December 16th 2007. Accompanied by the NCC Assistant Treasurer,
James Ochieng', from Nairobi, we visited the project at Nyamila from 19th to
22nd December 2007.
Upon arrival we noticed that the NCC plot had been cleared
and fenced and was ready for commencement of the building of the center. The
water pump was operating
with the community drawing clean water throughout the day. (A
quick check of the register showed that the bore-hole served an area of 2 KM
radius.) We also noticed the community health and social workers criss-crossing
the area on their bicycles as they visited the households under their care.
While on the trip IMF also met with Eng. Walter Ajowi who is
designing the center building and obtained the complete Bill of Quantities. Also
in the meeting was Dr. Habil Onyango who has a wealth of experience with similar
projects and was asked to assist NCC Manager on a pro-bono basis. The overall
view is that the project is on tract and enthusiasm is palpable throughout the
community. (See Pictures below!)
